Feb 11, 2026 – Thank you to our Distinguished Lecturer Kristin I. Stanford, PhD (Professor, Surgery, General and Gastrointestinal Surgery, Associate Director, Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute, Associate Director, Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center) for discussing "Mechanisms for BAT to mediate cardiovascular health."
Feb 13, 2026 – Drs. Diego Perez-Tilve 10, Guochang Fan 9, James Herman 5, Eric Wohleb 4, (shown L - R, 1st row) Konstantinos Drosatos 2, Renu Sah 1, and Teresa Reyes 1 (Shown L - R, 2nd row) were honored by the College of Medicine as Research Rainmakers, researchers whose sponsored research awards in fiscal year 2025 placed them in the top 25% of earners at UC. The number of times they have been recognized for this accomplishment since fiscal year 2016 is indicated by the number after their name.
Feb 2026 – Fan group publishes in 'Frontiers in Immunology' reporting the "Identification of MTURN as a trained immunity-related biomarker for heart failure via integrative transcriptomic machine learning analysis and experimental validation."
Feb 2026 – Carlin (Crone lab) was one of 15 students out of 100 who advanced to the final round of the 2026 UC Three-Minute Thesis Competition.
Feb 2026 – The Editor-in-Chief of "JACC: Basic to Translational Science" has selected Dr. Drosatos as a recipient of the 2025 Top Reviewer Award. The editor writes, "This recognition honors your exceptional contributions as a JACC peer reviewer in 2025. Your thoughtful critiques, scientific discernment, and dedication to scholarly excellence strengthen not only our journal, but the broader JACC Journal Family and the global cardiovascular community we serve." Dr. Drosatos will be recognized at the 2026 American College of Cardiology Scientific Session in New Orleans. Congratulations Dr. Drosatos!
Feb 2026 – Dr. Perez-Tilve and collaborators report the "Discovery and characterization of canvuparatide, a once-weekly parathyroid hormone analog for the treatment of hypoparathyroidism" in 'Molecular Metabolism'.
Feb 2026 – Dr. Gao and collaborators report in 'Nature Communications' that "Branched-chain α-keto acids impair glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in pancreatic β-cells under diabetes by reactivating the LDHA-lactate axis.
