Jul 2, 2026 – Congratulations to Dr. David Dadosky (Wohleb lab), who earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular, Cellular, and Biochemical Pharmacology by successfully defending his dissertation "The duality of glucocorticoid receptor signaling in neuroplasticity and behavior". Dr. Dadosky will now conduct postdoctoral research at Vanderbilt University.

Jul 2026 – Congratulations to Dr. KarthicK Chella Krishnan! The Board of Trustees has approved the promotion of Dr. Chella Krishnan to Associate Professor with tenure, effective 9/1/26.

Jul 2026 – In the Early Career Training Program, PhD student Lorena Ragonesi learned new bioinformatics tools and techniques in Madrid and presented her outcomes in Barcelona.

Jul 2026 – In "Brain Behavior and Immunity", the Wohleb group and collaborators report that Microglial brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) supports the behavioral and synaptogenic effects of ketamine.

Jul 2026 – Congratulations to Dr. Hong-Sheng Wang! Dr. Wang has been honored in the College of Medicine's Gallery of Awardees, which honors faculty for their successes in external funding.

Jul 2026 – Congratulations to Dr. Igal Ifergan, who has received a Research Innovation/Pilot Grant for his project "Targeting peripheral immune trafficking and microglial activation in GRN-associated frontotemporal dementia".

Jul 2026 – In "Brain Structure and Function", the Ulrich-Lai and Herman groups report that Limited sucrose intake produces subregion-specific remodeling of perineuronal nets in the medial prefrontal cortex.

Jul 2026 – Avindri Fernando, PPN student worker par excellence, worked her last day this month. She graduated this spring from UC with a BS in Health Sciences and immediately started a doctoral program in physical therapy (DPT). She is leaving us for a job doing research in her area of study. Avindri has been the social media poster, website editor, event assistant, surplus sender, equipment surveyor, and more. Thank you for all the time and attention to detail you gave us the last 2.5 years. Good luck!!!
