Apply for University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Pilot Research Programs

The University of Cincinnati Neuroscience Pilot Research Programs (pdf) are now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 funding cycle. The program supports innovative neuroscience research projects with strong potential to generate preliminary data for future extramural funding.

Two funding opportunities are available: the Neurobiology Research Center (NRC) Pilot Award, which provides awards of up to $25,000, and the George and Elizabeth Wiles Pilot Award, which provides up to three awards of $50,000 each for projects focused on neurodegenerative-related research.

Eligible applicants include full-time UC College of Medicine faculty members, residents, clinical fellows, and postdoctoral fellows conducting research in UC College of Medicine laboratories. Collaborative projects involving investigators across disciplines and institutions are encouraged.

Projects should address important questions in neuroscience and demonstrate a clear pathway toward future extramural funding. Areas of interest include novel discoveries and approaches, interdisciplinary collaborations, generation of preliminary data, and studies supporting mentored career development awards.
