By forming unique partnerships, the UC Division of EMS is committed to the provision of emergency medical support in unconventional settings.
Our creed is "Helping Those Who Help". Our primary role is to assist first responders and other organizations to achieve their goals more safely through enhanced medical care, education and research. Compromised of board certified EMS physicians, emergency medicine residents and prehospital care providers and integrated with the region's only Adult Level 1 Trauma Center, our special operations mission maintains four primary areas of focus:
The UC Division of EMS provides tactical medical support in the field, medical direction and training for the Cincinnati Police Department SWAT team, the Hamilton County Police Association SWAT Team and other regional resources.
The UC Division of EMS is actively involved in disaster planning and response at the hospital, health system and regional levels. UC EMS faculty provide disaster preparedness oversight for the UC Medical Center, West Chester Hospital, the University of Cincinnati and The Health Collaborative.
UC EMS faculty are thoroughly integrated into the planning and support of activities for many of the numerous large-scale public events hosted in southwest Ohio each year, including sporting events and festivals.
The UC EMS faculty include several wilderness medicine experts including a past president of the Wilderness Medical Society and medical director for the search and rescue agency covering the largest area in the region.
