Currently, the division has three active research laboratories and more than six areas of research focus. These laboratories are nationally recognized for their contributions to the understanding of disease outcomes and treatments of hepatitis viruses, the interaction of HIV and hepatitis viruses, viral pathogenesis, hepatic fibrosis, NASH, liver transplant immunosuppression, obesity, eosinophilic esophagitis, inflammatory bowel diseases and C difficile infection.
These laboratories and clinical/translational research groups are available to medical residents interested in elective experiences.
Opportunities for those interested in greater research focus during GI fellowship also exist using the T32 and F32 mechanisms offered by the NIH.
