General Nephrology

General nephrology is the core subspecialty of internal medicine focused on the comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and management of kidney conditions and disorders. Because the kidneys perform critical functions such as filtering waste from the blood, balancing electrolytes, and regulating blood pressure general nephrologists manage both primary kidney diseases and the systemic consequences of kidney dysfunction.
