UC Health Gynecology Oncology Research focuses specifically on research studies in gynecologic cancers. Throughout the past 20 years, we have conducted numerous research studies for these cancers involving:

• Chemotherapy agents
• Radiation therapies
• Combination chemotherapy and radiation
• Tumor and tissue banking
• Cancer prevention
• Genetic influences

Research studies are conducted at the University Hospital Barrett Cancer Center and the UC Health Physicians Offices in Clifton and West Chester and the Women’s Cancer Center in Kettering, Ohio.

Research is such an integral part of cancer care that patients can expect to hear about research studies as the doctors discuss their treatment options. We want patients to have as many choices as possible, so we work hard to make a variety of studies available at UC.

UC Health Maternal Fetal Medicine Research focuses specifically on research studies in pregnancy. Throughout the past 10 years, we have conducted numerous research studies in the following areas:

• Preterm labor
• Post-partum anemia
• Premature rupture of membranes (PROM)
• Pre-eclampsia
• Labor induction
• Cervical length assessment
• Post-partum hemorrhage
• Fetal lung maturity assessment

Research studies are conducted at the UC Health University Hospital obstetrics care areas, including the outpatient clinics in the Hoxworth building.

The integration of research into the clinical care areas makes participation easy and convenient for patients as well as enabling us to conduct the studies under the direction of our experienced investigators.

UC Health Reproductive Medicine Research focuses specifically on research studies in women’s health. Throughout the past 20 years, we have conducted numerous research studies in the following areas:

• Contraceptive devices and methods
• Endometriosis
• Menstrual cramps
• Heavy menstrual bleeding
• Infertility
• Vaginal infections
• Female sexual dysfunction, libido
• Menopause (hot flashes, vaginal dryness)

Some of these studies have resulted in new treatment options for women that include: Fosamax (for prevention and treatment of osteoporosis), Novasure (an endometrial ablation system for treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding), low-dose Premarin, PremPro, Evista, Yasmin, Ortho Tri Cyclen, Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo, Mirena, a contraceptive vaginal ring, and other products.
