The student performs psychiatric consultations on medical and surgical inpatients at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Students participate in the management of patients who present to the Psychiatric Emergency Service at Ridgeway at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Our Psychiatry Emergency Service serves approximately 10,000 patients per year.
Students participate in supervised clinical experiences in delivery of psychiatric care in primary care settings, and primary care in psychiatric settings.
Students assist in the treatment of psychiatric inpatients at University of Cincinnati Medical Center at the level of an acting intern. Students see a broad spectrum of disorders including psychosis, mood disorders, substance use disorders and personality disorders.
The student participates in the care of children with psychiatric disorders such as attention deficit disorder, bipolar disorder and sexual abuse. There is flexibility about areas of study and clinical responsibility at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
This elective provides the student experiences with adolescents who have mood and anxiety disorders, behavior disturbances, psychoses, learning disabilities, abuse history and family problems. The student will work with an interdisciplinary team which makes individual and family diagnostic assessments and treatment decisions. The student will facilitate liaison with pediatric teams, attend/experience pediatric outpatient clinics and experience adult psychiatry in the Psychiatric Emergency Service.
