The University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center have been chosen as a World Allergy Organization (WAO) Center of Excellence for the 2025-2029 term. The WAO Centers of Excellence designation exists to “intensify and accelerate multidisciplinary scientific and clinical innovation, education and advocacy globally”. Only 103 centers worldwide have earned this designation.

The center at the UC College of Medicine and Cincinnati Children’s will consist of 32 faculty representing diverse clinical and research specialties. The Asthma subspecialty will be led by our very own MSTP Program Director, Gurjit Khurana Hershey, MD, PhD. She is joined by other MSTP faculty Dr. Marc Rothenberg (Allergy & Immunology), Dr. Leah Kottyan (Autoimmune Genomics & Etiology), and Dr. Ian Lewkowich (Immunobiology).
