The 2026 Ohio Safety Congress and Expo was a great opportunity to connect with the occupational health and safety community and share work happening through the University of Cincinnati Education and Research Center. The University of Cincinnati had various expo booths, speaker sessions, and poster presentations.
There were presentations consisting of workshop group projects, students presenting results from their Target Research Training Program (TRT) research, and students presenting their Pilot Research Project (PRP) plans.
A group of 20 UC ERC students, faculty, and staff participated in a tour and presentations from staff at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. The group was made up of participants from all the ERC academic programs (industrial hygiene, safety engineering, occupational health nursing, and occupational medicine), making it a truly interdisciplinary experience. The group learned about many different aspects of the safety and health operations at the Cincinnati Zoo including emergency response, animal risk and response plans, dive team safety, zoonotic disease, weapons team, and workers’ compensation.
The symposium highlights pilot research projects in various fields of occupational health and safety.
The 21st Research Capacity Building Workshop was held on June 12-13, 2025 with 21 attendees from 6 different universities.
