Pediatric Pathology Fellowship

The Pediatric Pathology Fellowship Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is one of the nation's most established, with a legacy spanning over 50 years. This ACGME-accredited program trains three fellows annually in all facets of pediatric pathology, preparing them to sit for the Pediatric Pathology Certifying Examination by the American Board of Pathology.

Cincinnati Children’s consistently ranks among the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the United States, providing fellows with an exceptionally diverse learning environment. Each year, our department handles approximately 15,000 surgical pathology cases, 1,500 cytology specimens, over 1,000 outside consultations, and around 140 pediatric and perinatal autopsies. Our experienced faculty—comprising approximately a dozen attending pathologists with subspecialty expertise—delivers structured training, cultivating future leaders in pediatric pathology worldwide.

We also offer a separate non-standard fellowship (NST) program focused on pediatric and perinatal autopsy pathology, enriched by research opportunities. Fellows may opt for an additional year of training in this specialized pathway, and candidates from external institutions are welcome to apply for the NST fellowship as a complementary year of advanced training.
