The Lifestyle Medicine and Wellness Series are free, virtual events scheduled throughout the year focused on different lifestyle medicine and wellness topics. These events are free and open to the UC + Cincinnati community and beyond!

9/9/25: The Science & Practice of Yoga with Tina Walter, C-IAYT

Join us for a free virtual community presentation exploring the roots and modern-day relevance of yoga, including what yoga is, its role in prevention, and the wide range of therapeutic benefits.

The session includes a brief experiential practice and time for open Q&A. Whether you're new to yoga or curious to deepen your understanding, all are welcome!

Meet Tina Walter, C-IAYT, Oncology Yoga Therapist

Tina Walter, C-IAYT, is a Mind-Body Intervention Specialist at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at UC, where she provides evidence-based yoga therapy interventions to patients and their caregivers throughout their cancer journey from prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and end of life.

For over a decade, Tina has designed and provided protocols for patients in the clinical areas of inpatient and outpatient oncology at local hospitals to manage the adverse effects of treatment and improve clinical outcomes. She teaches meditation and both private and group yoga classes for cancer at UC Health and the Cancer Support Community.

Tina is certified by The International Association of Yoga Therapists and has advanced training in yoga for cancer and chronic illness. She is past Chair of the Yoga SIG for the Society for Integrative Oncology and is a contributing author of a book on yoga therapy for cancer. She has co-authored published articles including a manuscript on the efficacy of yoga therapy during cancer treatment and has presented her research on a similar topic at local and national conferences. At present, Tina is studying to become a board-certified health coach, adding another dimension to her yoga therapy credentials.

A mother of five children, Tina resides in Cincinnati with her husband, Bob. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, walking in nature, and taking care of their new grandbaby.

9/6/25 Healthy Eating and the Holidays with Sarah Couch, PhD

Join us for a free, one-hour virtual presentation with Sarah Couch, PhD, offering practical tips for enjoying the holiday season while making balanced food choices. Dr. Couch will share evidence-based strategies to help everyone eat well during celebrations, with a special focus on supporting those living with diabetes. The session will wrap up with an open Q&A.

Sarah Couch

Meet Sarah Couch, PhD

Sarah Couch is a professor and the Director of the Graduate Program in Nutrition in the Department of Rehabilitation, Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Cincinnati. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist specializing in translating evidence-based dietary recommendations in chronic disease prevention and treatment for clinical applications. Dr. Couch has worked collaboratively with teams of health care professionals to educate patients, students, and professionals in food literacy toward greater adherence to healthy eating patterns conducive to minimizing chronic disease risk. With over 30 years of teaching experience, she has been active in many leadership roles including serving on the Advisory Panel on Nutrition and Hypertension State of Food and Nutrition and on the Council on Research Implementation Subcommittee of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).  She also served as president of the Greater Cincinnati Dietetic Association and on the Board of Editors of the Journal of AND.

How to redeem points in the THRIVE app: click on “Rewards.” Scroll down to “Integrative Medicine.” Fill in all required fields and upload proof (registration confirmation, etc.) then click “submit.”

Be Well UC - UC Faculty/Staff

Eligible faculty and staff can earn 1,000+ Be Well UC points in the Personify Health portal with UC’s employee wellness program for attending offerings with the Osher Center for Integrative Health, and earn up to $300 every calendar year. Get started by creating an account or logging in, click the “Home” icon near the top, then, click “Rewards”. Scroll (or search) to the “Participation” category. Click “Attend a UC sponsored event”. Fill out a brief form and submit!
