MPH Conference Travel Fund Award

The MPH Conference Travel Fund Award supports current University of Cincinnati MPH students in attending academic conferences related to public health research. This opportunity helps students share their work, learn about innovate public health research, and gain valuable experience.

Award Details

• Amount: $200 per student.
• Availability: Highly competitive — up to five students will be awarded each academic year.
• Priority Consideration: Given to students presenting original research (oral or poster presentations).
• Students not presenting at the conference are still eligible to apply.

Student Eligibility

To qualify for this award, you must:

• Be a current student enrolled in the UC MPH program.
• Must be an active student (enrolled in courses).
• Remain enrolled through the start date of the conference (conferences occurring after graduation are not eligible).
• Submit a completed MPH Conference Travel Fund Award Application by October 1, 2025 — applications must be submitted before travel.

Conference Eligibility

Funding is limited to academic conferences with a strong focus on public health research including concentration specific conferences. The award does not cover:

• Fieldwork
• Training sessions
• Career fairs or networking events
• Auditions, job interviews, or non-research-based conferences

Your concentration director must verify that your chosen conference aligns with your academic and professional development goals.

Eligible Expenses

If selected, students will receive reimbursement after attending the conference. The award can be used for the following costs:

• Conference registration (excluding membership fees)
• Lodging (room rate only — no upgrades, room service, or extras)
• Economy/coach airfare (ticket only — no baggage, seat selection, or upgrade fees)
• Poster printing costs

Receipts are required within two weeks of your return and must include:

• Date and time of transaction
• Method of payment (e.g., last four digits of the credit card)
• Itemized list with unit prices and total costs
• Complete breakdown of lodging charges (nightly rate, taxes, fees, etc.)
• Total amount paid

How to Apply

Applications will open at the start of fall semester. Submit your completed application by October 1, 2025, to be considered. You will receive a decision within four weeks of the deadline.

Funds must be used by May 31, 2026.
